April 1 opening day at Junction Pool in Roscoe — the legendary confluence of the Beaverkill and the Willowemoc — has been a fly-fishing pilgrimage since the 1940s. Roscoe shuts down to host out-of-town anglers for the day. Mass casting demonstrations, Trout Town parade, ceremonial first cast. The opening already happened on April 1, 2026 — the 2027 opener follows the same pattern, first Wednesday of April. Adults 21+ should respect the standard MA-style Catskills cannabis rule: state-owned-land prohibition applies on all river access.
