Painted-Village Main Street at the base of Hunter Mountain — the gateway to the eastern escarpment.
Tannersville is the brightest-colored main street in the Catskills — the result of a 2000s revival project that repainted the storefronts and pulled weekenders back. At the base of Hunter and a few minutes from Kaaterskill Falls, it’s the primary service town for eastern-Catskills visitors. A licensed dispensary (Wintergreen) is on Main Street with an opening pending. Year-round the town trades on skiing, fall leaves, and a handful of restaurants that stay open for a growing four-season economy.
