What to expect
Belleayre Mountain — the state-owned western Catskills ski area in Highmount — typically opens for the 2026–27 season in late November to early December. Belleayre runs more affordable lift-ticket pricing than Hunter and Windham, draws a family-leaning crowd, and has the longest groomed runs in the western Catskills. Adults 21+ visiting from out of state should know NY state land cannabis prohibition applies to the trails and parking; consume only at the cabin or rental.
The rule, plainly
Adults 21 and over may possess up to three ounces of flower and 24 grams of concentrate, bought from a licensed shop. New York state law prohibits cannabis consumption on state-owned land and in public spaces. What it means for your evening: buy sealed from a licensed shop, keep it closed in the car, and consume only where the venue allows; rentals set their own house rules, so ask before you book.Checked Sep 2026 · Source: OCM
