Weed Delivery in the Catskills: How Licensed Delivery Works and Where It Reaches

Licensed dispensaries can deliver to Catskills cabins and rentals, even in towns without a storefront. Coverage is the catch: zones are drawn shop by shop and thin out in the high peaks.

Weed delivery in the Catskills exists, it is legal, and it runs through licensed dispensaries rather than through anyone's Instagram. New York lets licensed shops deliver to adults 21+ at residential addresses anywhere in the state, which includes cabins and short-term rentals in towns that never allowed a storefront. The catch is coverage. Delivery zones are drawn by each shop, and in the Catskills they thin out fast once the roads start climbing.

How licensed delivery works in New York

The Office of Cannabis Management's delivery rules are short and strict:

  • Who can order. Adults 21+. The buyer attests to age when ordering online, and the driver checks a valid photo ID again at the door.
  • Where it can go. A physical address in New York State, at any kind of residential property, including short-term and long-term rentals, or a private business. Not to parks or other public spaces, not to a school, and not to anyone sitting in a car.
  • How it is paid. Prepaid, online or by phone, at the time of the order. Delivery drivers do not take cash.
  • When it runs. Only during the shop's own hours of operation. Some shops take scheduled orders for later.
  • What happens at the door. An ID check and a signature on every order. Someone other than the buyer can accept it if the buyer named them and they show valid 21+ ID.
  • How much. Up to three ounces of flower and 24 grams of concentrate, the same limit as in-store. Shops may cap items when stock runs low.
  • What it costs. Shops may charge a delivery fee, and fees vary.

Delivery is ground-only, and orders cannot cross the state line. A Catskills shop cannot send a package to a second home in Pennsylvania or New Jersey.

Where delivery reaches in the Catskills

The eastern Catskills have the most coverage, because Kingston shops draw their delivery maps across Ulster County. Catskill Mountain High in Kingston Plaza lists delivery to Hurley, Lake Katrine, Saugerties and Woodstock, with estimated drive times on its site and a delivery window of 11 AM to 7:30 PM. Lucky Green Ladies on South Wall Street lists delivery to Woodstock, Saugerties and Kingston, with free delivery above a $75 minimum and a 10 AM to 9 PM schedule.

Farther in, it gets case-by-case. In Greene County, the licensed shop in West Coxsackie checks delivery by ZIP code at checkout, which is the only reliable way to learn whether a Mountaintop address qualifies. In Sullivan County, Canna Planet's Liberty store offers delivery ordering on its own page. For Phoenicia, Margaretville, Andes and the high-peaks hollows, expect to find that most zones stop short. The practice that works: enter the exact rental address at checkout before assuming anything.

Opt-out towns are fair game. The Town of Hunter, the Village of Hunter and the Town of Windham all opted out of storefronts in 2021, but the delivery rule covers residences anywhere in New York, so a Hunter or Windham rental can receive a licensed delivery if a shop's zone reaches it.

Making a cabin delivery go smoothly

  • Give a precise address. Many Catskills rentals sit on unmarked roads or share a driveway. Add a landmark or the host's arrival directions in the order notes.
  • Answer the phone. Mountain cell coverage is spotty. Give a number that works at the cabin, or the Wi-Fi calling details.
  • Be the one at the door. The driver needs a 21+ photo ID and a signature. If someone else is accepting, name them on the order.
  • Order early in the day. Delivery stops when the shop closes, and the last slot of a Saturday is the first to go.
  • Check the house rules. Delivery to a short-term rental is legal; what the host allows on the property is the host's call.

The delivery services to skip

Social-media menus, text-message "drops" and websites without a licensed storefront behind them are unlicensed sellers, whatever they call themselves. The products are untested, the sale is illegal, and the buyer has no recourse. Licensed products carry the state's universal symbol and a QR code that links to lab results. Before ordering, verify licensed status via the OCM QR code at cannabis.ny.gov, where the state's dispensary verification tool lists every licensed shop.

When delivery won't reach

Plan the shop stop into the drive instead. Most Catskills weekends pass a licensed town on the way in: Kingston from the Thruway, Catskill on the Route 23A side, Liberty or Monticello on Route 17. Licensed options are on the dispensary map. Purchases stay sealed for the drive, cannabis cannot be consumed in a motor vehicle, and driving impaired is illegal. New York state law prohibits cannabis consumption on state-owned land and in public spaces, which covers the Forest Preserve, trailheads and state campgrounds. Edibles from a delivery order follow the same caps as in-store, 10 mg of THC per serving and 100 mg per package: start low, go slow.

The season's programming is on the events calendar.

FAQ

Yes, from licensed dispensaries. New York allows licensed shops to deliver to adults 21+ at residential addresses, including short-term rentals, anywhere in the state, as long as the address falls inside the shop's delivery zone.

Can cannabis be delivered to an Airbnb in New York?

State rules allow delivery to short-term and long-term residences, so a rental address qualifies. The host's house rules still govern what is allowed on the property.

Can you pay cash for cannabis delivery in New York?

No. Delivery orders must be prepaid online or by phone when the order is placed, and delivery drivers cannot accept cash.

Does cannabis delivery reach Hunter and Windham?

It can. Both towns opted out of storefronts, but delivery to residences is allowed anywhere in New York. Whether a specific address is covered depends on the shop, so check by ZIP code at checkout.

How can you tell a delivery service is licensed?

Order only from a licensed dispensary's own site or phone line, and verify it at cannabis.ny.gov. Unlicensed delivery menus on social media are illegal sellers.
